Improve NPC conversations with Relationship Dialogue Overhaul SE

Relationship Dialogue Overhaul Special Edition (RDO SE) is a free user-created mod for the fantasy Skyrim Special Edition RPG. This mod increases the variety and relevance of game dialogue by restoring otherwise unused dialogue and remixing existing voice assets.

Unlike Legacy of the Dragonborn SSE and some other mods, RDO SE doesn't focus on new gameplay elements, such as additional quests or weapons. Instead, it aims to improve the sense of realism and immersion in dialogue conversations. It also fixes several voice bugs and adds consequences for disapproving NPCs of the player characters.

Conversations reflect relationships

Throughout the Skyrim game, the Dragonborn protagonist creates and develops relationship dialogue with many different NPC types. In addition, they can even fall in love with NPCs and marry them. However, the NPC dialogue often doesn't progress as character relationships do. For example, even loved ones remain stiffly formal in conversation. Relationship Dialogue Overhaul SE sets out to add and edit more story-appropriate dialogue.

Unlock content and creative editing

To increase the variety and improve the realism of NPC dialogue, Relationship Dialogue Overhaul SE adds over 5,000 lines of new dialogue to Skyrim SE. The mod uses original character voices and various existing voice assets to create the new fully voiced lines. It even restores lines that were made for but never used in the game, while other dialogue snippets are edited and remixed character voice lines.

Improved immersion

Skyrim Special Edition is a game that rewards long-term play. However, it makes the repetitive NPC dialogue, which is often jarringly unfitting to the storyline, particularly unwelcome. Relationship Dialogue Overhaul SE solves this problem by introducing new dialogue that better matches the characters.
